Twenty two million people have overcome extreme poverty from income perspective since the Brazil Without Extreme Poverty Plan (Plano Brasil Sem Miséria, BSM) was launched on June 2011. The main results achieved in the last three years of the Plan are presented in this publication. The BSM’s goal was to raise income and welfare conditions of extremely poor people through a set of actions that include cash transfer, access to public services (education, health, welfare, sanitation and electricity), and productive inclusion. For this, new programs have been created and already existing initiatives were expanded in partnership with states, municipalities, public and private companies and civil society organizations.
