The Municipal Decentralized Management Index (IGD-M, in Portuguese) is a strategic tool used by the Brazilian government to support and encourage municipalities to invest in management improvement of the Bolsa Familia Program and the Unified Registry. It’s an indicator that serves as a quality measurement of actions carried out by the local authorities and as an encouragement to achieve better results. The higher the value of the IGD-M, the greater the transfer of funds to the municipality in order to encourage them to invest continuously in the improvement of the program management.
